Palo Santo is a natural and organic incense that comes from the Palo Santo Tree on the coast of South America. It is considered a sacred and mystical tree and in Spanish translates to Holy Wood. Palo Santo has been used for thousands of years in Peru and Ecuador by shamans and healers. Increasingly, the healing properties of Palo Santo are finding its way into the rest of the world as one of the truly great resins of Mother Earth.
Similar to burning Sage, it is used for energetically smudging and cleansing your most sacred spaces. Home, office, dorm room, studio, or any space you want to cleanse moving out the old stagnant energy while leaving your space open to new and positive energy. Palo Santo smells amazing and is great to have around any time you want to cleanse a space, item, or person. It's unique, warm aroma has notes of cedar, pine, mint and citrus. Calming and comforting, it's scent has a very grounding energy that brings clarity and peace.
To use your palo santo stick light the tip of the wood until you see a soft glowing ember, blow out the flame and allow the smoke to cleanse and ground you and your sacred space. Move around allowing the smoke to enter into any area you want to cleanse. If you are cleansing a specific item or person move the stick around the item or person slowly while keeping an open and positive mind. Sticks may be lit several times and each stick will last through many cleansing ceremonies. When your cleansing ceremony is complete, place the Palo Santo in a fireproof bowl.
